Caron Kamps Widden was born in Coos Bay, Oregon, and grew up in California. Her father loved to read and introduced Caron to books early in life. She left Southern California for Atlanta to begin a new life and a new career. Shortly after arriving in the south, Widden met her husband; they married and embarked on a series of transfers around the country for her husband’s work. While raising three children in a handful of houses, Widden found herself renovating and decorating each home with care. Everywhere they moved, she took writing classes. She has written articles, short pieces and poems for literary journals and small newspapers and has lent a hand at such publications as Orange Coast Magazine and Zoetrope: All-Story, the literary magazine founded by Francis Ford Coppola. In writing Restoration, her first novel, Caron learned an important lesson–perseverance. She and her family now live in Ridgefield.
