Abigail Tucker is the author of the 2016 bestseller The Lion in the Living Room: How House Cats Tamed Us and Took Over the World. The book takes a comprehensive look at cats—and the hold they have on us—through history, natural history, and pop culture. She was the first staff writer for Smithsonian magazine, and still works as a contributor for the publication. Before working at Smithsonian, Tucker was an award-winning journalist at the Baltimore Sun.
