Brad Parks began writing high school sports news, at age 14, for The Ridgefield Press. He graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1992 and Dartmouth College in 1996. He was a staff writer for The Washington Post and The Newark Star-Ledger. In 2008, he left the newspaper industry to pursue fiction-writing and currently lives in Virginia. According to his website, Brad Parks is the only author to have won the Shamus Award (Best First Mystery) and the Nero Award (Best American Mystery) for the same novel, Faces of the Gone.
