Bette Lischke is the author of In the Waters of Time. The novel tells the story of Jane Eliot, a 33-year-old Maine woman struggling with infertility who has intensifying and haunting visions of a past life as a Victorian woman who abandoned her husband and children to pursue love.

In addition to being a novelist, Lischke is a singer, songwriter, and storyteller. She created a CD, “Santa Claus & the Elf Scout Leaders,” that includes seven original songs. She also produced a play for children. In addition to being a writer, Lischke has worked as an executive recruiter, social worker, and hypnotist.

A Ridgefield resident for three years during high school, Lischke was known at the time as Cathy Hanlon. Her family ultimately moved back to Ridgefield and her brother still lives in town. She lives in Newburyport, MA with her husband and is a devoted grandmother of seven.
