Married to writer Richard Kluger, Phyllis and Richard collaborated on two novels, Good Goods and Royal Poinciana, under the humourous pseudonym Thea Coy Douglass, as well as the non-fiction book, The Paper: The Life and Death of the New York Herald Tribune. Phyllis graduated from Columbia University as an art history major. Her gift for the fiber arts stood her in good stead when she wrote A Needlepoint of Patterns and Victorian Designs for Needlepoint.
